Notice of Remote Aquaculture Lease Hearing- Christopher Dickinson

The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) announces the following remote aquaculture lease hearing: 

 

Date: May 10, 2021

Time: 3:00 p.m.

Summary: At the day and time listed above, DMR will hold a remote public hearing on the application of Christopher Dickinson for a 1.00-acre, 20-year standard aquaculture lease on a site located southwest of Hog Island, Damariscotta River, Towns of Damariscotta and Newcastle, for the suspended culture of American/Eastern oysters.

If the remote public hearing listed above is postponed, an alternate remote public hearing will be held on May 11, 2021 at the same time. Notice of a postponement will be posted on the Department’s website.

Interested persons may participate in the remote hearing by computer or phone. To help manage the proceeding, interested persons need complete an online registration form no later than 5:00 p.m., April 25, 2021. After the registration deadline, DMR will contact interested persons with information about how to join the remote hearing. If you are unable to register online or need assistance with the form, please contact DMR.

INTERVENING: Applications to intervene need to be received by DMR no later than 5:00 p.m., April 25, 2021. DMR will decide whether to grant intervenor applications five days before the hearing. If you are granted intervenor status, you become a legal party to the proceeding. See the contact information below to request an intervenor application from DMR. You do not need to be an intervenor to participate in the proceeding.

Aquaculture Lease Hearing: Spinney Creek Shellfish: Remote Pre-Hearing Conference

This meeting will be used to discuss the administration of the hearing including the pre-filing of evidence and the closure of the record. You do not need to register for this meeting in order to participate in the hearing! This meeting is recommended for those who intend to apply for intervenor status.  In order to participate, you must register no later than 5pm on May 14, 2021. The registration form can be accessed here.

Aquaculture Lease Hearing: Spinney Creek Shellfish: Remote Hearing

  • The proceeding will begin on the day and time noted above. It may be continued, as necessary, at the same time and format on June 17, 21, and 22.
  • The hearing will be conducted remotely and will be held in accordance with the adjudicatory proceedings provisions of the Maine Administrative Procedure Act (5 M.R.S.A., ch. 375, subchapter 4). Any interested person may attend the hearing and ask questions of the parties or testify under oath about the proposed lease.
  • Persons wishing to ask questions of the parties or testify under oath need to register. The registration for the hearing will open at 8:00am on May 17, 2021 and close at 5:00 pm on June 1, 2021. The registration form can be accessed here.
