Health Insurance

The MLA has partnered with Fishing Partnership Support Services (FPSS) and is serving as a “Navigator” to help Maine lobstermen and their families understand Affordable Care Act requirements including health insurance options, subsidies and penalties. The MLA is committed to ensuring that Maine lobstermen have the information they need to make an informed decision when it comes to health insurance enrollment.

Whether you are turning 26 or 56, the MLA can lend a hand finding insurance that suits you.  Appointments are available at our Kennebunk office but if you have access to a computer, we can come to you!  Call 207-967-4555 or email for more information.  You can “window shop” for plans by clicking this link: See Plans & Prices. Window Shopping allows you to get a ball park price based on your location, if you smoke and your age.

And check out our calendar here to see if we will be in your area during open enrollment.  If you already have an appointment, here’s a handy checklist Marketplace-Enrollment-Appointment-Checklist-CAHC

Many things are changing in Maine’s healthcare. Even if you had insurance last year, it is recommended that everyone review their health plan. You will be automatically “Cross-walked” into a new plan with either Harvard Pilgrim or MCHO depending on your location.

With four types of plans available, consumers can find a plan that includes their existing provider, covers their prescriptions and of course provides the 10 Required Essential Health Benefits.

1.outpatient services 2. emergency services, 3. inpatient hospital care 4.pregnancy childbirth and newborn care services 4. mental health and substance abuse services 5. Prescription drugs 6.  habilitative and rehabilitative services and devices  7. laboratory services 8 preventative and well care 9. chronic disease management 10 children’s health
